Industrial Marketing: 4 Keys to Keep up with Google

google panda and industrial marketing

Understanding Google’s rapid pace of change and where it is heading will help you in developing an effective industrial marketing strategy to protect your site from future changes.

“If anything is certain, it is that change is certain. The world we are planning for today will not exist in this form tomorrow.” ~ Philip Crosby

Nothing could be more true when it comes to Google’s search result ranking factors. Google’s Penguin and Panda algorithm updates have transformed the world of search as we know it. Every year, between 500-600 changes are made to the Google search algorithm, including pivotal updates every few months that significantly impact industrial manufacturing search results.

There was a time when the appropriate use of keywords would land your site a high search ranking. Unfortunately, those days are over. Today the emphasis is on “natural” content that is relevant and authentic. Websites are being penalized in search rankings for containing poorly written, over-optimized content as well as links to low quality content.

Changes in search engine optimization will keep coming. What can you do to stay on top? No one can say for sure. Based what we have seen so far, here are Four key factors that should be taken into consideration:

1. Unique Content

Producing fresh, relevant, well-written content that provides industrial visitors with value will help appease Google as well as attract traffic to your site.

2. Keywords

Be careful not to overload your text with keywords. Keywords still have their place, but they need to be used sparingly to achieve a natural, conversational flow.

3. Links

Go for quality over quantity. Maintain high-quality internal links and back links by connecting to meaningful content and relevant sites.

5. Diversity

Diversify your content across multiple channels, such as social media and e-mail. Google is putting more and more emphasis on social media activity in regards to context and organic search results.

There is no quick fix for search engine optimization (SEO). Results take time and patience.
